Water Advisory Notices Lifted For Russet Bluff Water System

Residents on the Russet Bluff water system in the South Lakeside area of Williams Lake can resume normal water use.

The Cariboo Regional District rescinded effective immediately today (Monday) their water advisory notices.

Following extensive testing and sampling, the CRD has determined that the Russet Bluff water system can reliably meet summer demand utilizing only the upper well as a sole source.

They noted the upper well does not contain manganese, is not a groundwater source at risk of pathogens and otherwise meets the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.

This means the water being supplied does not present any public health risks.

The Cariboo Regional District said while the upper well is not treated, its greater distance from the lake significantly reduces the risk of contamination and that they will continue to conduct weekly water sampling as scheduled.

The water advisory notices were issued on May 14th and 24th.
