Students and youth can go to Thompson Rivers University Williams Lake campus for health services.
The service, in partnership with the Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin, is open at the campus two days a week for new and existing clients ages 12 to 24.
Academic Director, Kylie Thomas says this expansion gives more convenient access to health services for those youth.
“What this provides is accessibility for the youth of the community.” says Thomas
“Where the Foundry is located currently is a fair distance from the Thompson Rivers University campus, and our campus is just a couple blocks away from a highschool and other schools in the area so, this provides some easy access for those youth.”
Thomas says this is especially helpful for students to better fit the time into their schedules.
They will be able to access mental health and substance use support, physical and sexual health care, peer support in the Fall and social services.
Thomas says she’s excited for students to have that accessibility on campus.
She says it’s important for those moving to Williams Lake to take TRU programming that wont necessarily come with or have access to a medical service provider.
