Smoke From Moose Valley Wildfire Highly Visible From 100 Mile House And Highway 97

The Moose Valley wildfire 11 kilometres southwest of 108 Mile and 13 kilometres northwest of 100 Mile House continues to be fought by BC Wildfire Crews.

Jeromy Corrigan Fire Information Officer for the Cariboo Fire Centre said as of this morning (July 25) it’s estimated to be 290 hectares in size and showed no significant growth from last night.

The good news with the weather we’re receiving right now throughout the Cariboo, the cooler temperatures and scattered rain, it is helping with fire behaviour. It is displaying Rank 1 fire behaviour with pockets of Rank 2, but with that being said they have not yet received significant precipitation.”

Corrigan said BC Wildfire Service continues to have firefighters on the ground being supported by heavy equipment, aviation resources, all working on the Moose Valley wildfire.

It continues to be a highly visible wildfire close to the community of 100 Mile House. It’s very visible from Highway 97 and the surrounding areas. I remind motorists if you are travelling on Highway 97 expect some smoke in the area,” Corrigan noted.
