Crews Respond To Moose Valley Wildfire In The South Cariboo

BC Wildfire Crews are actioning a wildfire in the South Cariboo.

Fire Information Officer Jeromy Corrigan said the Moose Valley wildfire, Southwest of the 108 Mile Ranch is highly visible to 100 Mile House, Highway 97 and surrounding area.

It is currently displaying Rank 4 fire behaviour at the head. The size of that wildfire is now estimated to be around 150 hectares. There is an initial attack crew, heavy equipment, contractors and aviation attending to the Moose Valley wildfire.”

Corrigan re stated that it is a very visible wildfire especially if you are travelling on Highway 97.

For residents around the region just be cautious when you are travelling on Highway 97 visibility may be affected because of the smoke in the area from the Moose Valley wildfire.”

To date Corrigan noted that the Cariboo Fire Centre has had 162 incidents across the entire Fire Centre totalling 28,615 hectares burned.

Looking at the number per zones:

45 in 100 Mile zone

25 in the Williams Lake zone

17 in the Horsefly zone

63 in the Quesnel zone

and 10 in the Chilcotin zone
