100 Mile House RCMP were called out to a vehicle parked on Cedar Avenue that had a dog left in it.
On July 16th, police observed the dog to have been in heat distress, and an entry was made into the vehicle to retrieve the dog.
Sergeant Brian Lamb says the dog was taken to a local veterinarian.
“Police followed up with the owner as well as passed on the information to the SPCA.” says Lamb.
“100 Mile House RCMP continue to receive calls for service in regards to dogs being left in vehicles during this latest heat wave.”
Lamb says the recommendation is to call police immediately if a dog is seen in a hot car, and a determination will be made by the officer.
He says the department averages three to four calls a week regarding dogs left in cars, with last week seeing three in one day.
Lamb advises dog owners that it’s best to leave the dogs at home during a heat wave.
