Aircraft engineers issue second strike notice after declining WestJet offer

WestJet says it’s received a second strike notice from its 670 aircraft maintenance engineers, with a walkout beginning as early as Friday.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association pulled its strike threat on Thursday of last week after the company agreed to return to the bargaining table.

But the airline says the union has rejected its latest contract offer……one it says would have given the employees a 22 per cent wage increase over four years.

WestJet cancelled at least 40 flights last week, affecting more than 65-hundred passengers……and is expected to cancel more, now that the strike threat has been revived.
