Williams Lake RCMP investigating the vandalization of BC Wildfire Service equipment

Williams Lake RCMP is looking for information regarding property damage to BC Wildfire Service equipment.

On Monday, June 10th, at 1:42am, police had received a report of mischief to property at the BCWS compound located near Minton Lake and Lund Road.

Corporal Madonna Saunderson says multiple pieces of equipment were vandalized.

“They get there and find that sand had been poured into a pump, making it inoperable.” says Saunderson.

“Evidence suggests that the suspect or suspects cut the fence to get access to the property, and while no other buildings on the property were broken into, several items were spray painted.”

Saunderson says damages such as this could affect public safety, as equipment need to be operable and ready to go at the drop of a hat.

Police will be increasing patrols in the area and will hold those responsible accountable.

Anyone with information is asked to call Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
