Environment Canada has ended the severe thunderstorm watch for parts of the Cariboo region.
Original (June 4th):
A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for Quesnel and Williams Lake for today (June 4th).
Conditions are favourable for the development of a severe thunderstorm, but is a bit hit and miss with it not being widespread.
Meteorologist, Chris Doyle explains what the potential weather system can bring.
“What people can expect is roughly a 50/50 chance in their neighbourhood of seeing a thunderstorm that generates a torrential downpour for a short period of time, hail up to two centimetres, frequent lightning, and most importantly wind gusts associated with the thunderstorm up to about 90 km/h.”
Doyle says an important thing to keep in mind is when thunder roars, get indoors, and keep an eye on the sky if you’re working outdoors today.
While 100 Mile House is not included in the severe thunderstorm watch, there is a chance to see rain and a risk of a thunderstorm.
