Williams Lake High School students able to take advantage of GradPASS

The GradPASS program is being offered by BC Transit and the City of Williams Lake for graduating high school students.

Williams Lake is one of 70 communities in the province allowing students to ride the bus for free for any two days during the month of June.

Public Affairs Advisor with BC Transit, Jamie Weiss says hundreds of students will be able to use the GradPASS.

“There are two schools in Williams Lake participating in the program this year, and that would be Cariboo Adventist Academy and Lake City Secondary School.” says Weiss.

“In total, we delivered 310 passes to those schools, and we look forward to those graduates taking advantage of that safe and free transportation this graduating season.”

Weiss says students just need to scratch off their two chosen travel days, which don’t need to be consecutive, then present the card with their valid student ID to the driver.

Quesnel and 100 Mile House are not taking part in this year’s GradPASS program, but have taken part years prior.

He encourages schools to reach out to BC Transit to join the program for future years, or to go to their local government, to have the item added to a future agenda.
