Film screening in Williams Lake sees good turnout and discussions

The City of Williams Lake, Cariboo Regional District, Williams Lake Fire Department, and BC Wildfire Service held The Test film screening.

On Thursday (May 16th), roughly 82 people attended the screening of a documentary about the 18 years the community of Logan Lake spent becoming the first Certified FireSmart Community in Canada.

Following the film, Fire Chief Evan Dean says the panel discussions were beneficial.

“There was a lot of valuable feedback, and it was good to have the opportunity to answer any questions.” says Dean.

“I don’t think anything really came up that was new, but I think for the public, it was also a little bit reassuring just to see that we’re well prepared for any eventualities and that each of the agencies are working on plans together.”

While there isn’t another film screening in the cards, Dean says they’re going to continue to work collaboratively to get public education out.
