A wildfire burning between Williams Lake and Quesnel has grown significantly.
The Burgess Creek Wildfire was discovered yesterday (Saturday) and has since grown 1,600 hectares according to the BC Wildfire Service.
The fire is located five kilometres northwest of Ben Lake.
The BC Wildfire Service has launched a full response to the blaze, including ground personnel, aircraft suppression, and heavy equipment.
Due to strong winds, the fire is producing a large column of smoke visible to commuters on Highway 97 and from Williams Lake and Quesnel.
All but two wildfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre are now Out or Under Control. Only the Burgess Creek Wildfire (C20117) remains classified as Out of Control. #BCWildfire Service personnel are on site and are supported by heavy equipment and aircraft.
