RCMP Corporal Madonna Saunderson said on Saturday (March 23) at 5:19 pm Williams Lake RCMP were called to Tyee Lake .
“It was reported that a UTV travelling on the lake had gone through the ice and sadly a young child had died,” Saunderson stated in a release.
Williams Lake RCMP are assisting BC Coroners Service who has conduct of the investigation.
Police remind the public as Spring arrives and the Region sees more and more warmer days, to be aware of the rapidly changing conditions of ice on our area lakes and ponds.
While the ice may look safe, as the mercury rises, the ice melts making it unsafe to be on.
