The outdoors can be more than great…they can also be dangerous.
This saturday is avalanche awareness day and South Cariboo Search and Rescue will be conducting a workshop to inform outdoor enthusiasts how to be better prepared for their next back country adventure.
Shane Gunn, Avalanche Safety Co-Ordinator for South Cariboo Search and Resuce goes over some of the things they’ll be covering.
“How to use their equipment properly. How to travel through avalanche terrain and asses avalanche terrain so that they don’t get themselves in a predicament while in the back country.
Gunn says this workshop is geared towards anyone, young or old, going back country skiing, snow shoeing or snowmobiling and will be held saturday morning starting at ten in the South Cariboo Search and Rescue Hall on Horse lake Road.
