The West Fraser Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a house fire on Higdon Road this (Wednesday) morning.
Fire Chief Lance Wilkins says they were one scene at around 9 o’clock.
“It was a chimney fire to start with that extended through the house. It was fully involved when we got there so all we could do is try to put it out. There was one person there that, from what I was told, suffered some smoke inhalation and the paramedics were taking care of them. Everybody else got out fine.”
Wilkins says there was no danger of the fire spreading as there wasn’t anything else that was close to the home.
He says they responded with 6 fire fighters as well as their tender and engine and Quesnel provided some mutual aid.
“Two people from Quesnel with their tender, so we were doing good for water.”
Wilkins says they were one scene for between 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
