Williams Lake SPCA looking for donations as pet food bank runs low

Williams Lake SPCA has made a call out to help replenish parts their food bank.

When it comes to pet food, one week the need is high and the next is the opposite, which makes it hard to plan.

Manager, Elizabeth Dighton says orders are made, however it takes funds away from animals in care that need it, making community donations that much more important.

“We always need donations, that is a given, and every time we get low I put the word out normally through our Facebook page and the community response is overwhelming.” says Dighton

“At this moment, our biggest need is dry and wet cat food for our community’s pet food bank.”

As for if they’re worried about a shortage during the holidays, Dighton says it’s a catch-22, because while people are saving up for the holidays, people are also more generous.

Other donations needed include winter supplies, such as ice melt, cleaning supplies, Q-tips for ear mites with the cats, and of course wet food.

Those looking to donate can do so by dropping it off at the Williams Lake SPCA branch (709 Bond Lake Road), and are open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 12pm-3pm.
