Central Cariboo Search and Rescue gets funding to help improve equipment

Central Cariboo Search and Rescue were recipients of the Williams Lake Community Forest grant.

The $7,000 funding was in an effort to replace stolen equipment of their entire rescue 12 truck back in April of 2022.

“We had to use other funds to replace that equipment, and now this grant from the Williams Lake Community Forest has helped us now back place that equipment.” says Member and Public Relations Coordinator, Debra Bortolussi.

Bortolussi added that the funding provided hasn’t completely helped replace their equipment, as there are a few pieces still needed.

The funding didn’t just go to equipment, as she says it also helped with their embankment rope rescue and wildland rope rescue training.

While the money received gives the team peace of mind, they were always able to complete the calls after the equipment was stolen, but the funding allows them to have that additional equipment to have their trucks fully equipped.

CCSAR were a part of a group of 15 organizations to receive funding from the grant.
