Quesnel City Council will once again top up the funding for the Clean Team to pick up needles and other drug paraphernalia around town.
Council provided $12,480 back in January to support the program through July until a longer term solution could be worked out.
So far that hasn’t happened.
Tanya Turner is the Director of Development Services.
“We are working with Northern Health right now and are making some good headway on that and I do hope to have something to you soon. However, our funding will not cover the month of August and I don’t expect a contract to be in place until September.”
The cost to keep the program running through August is $6,000.
Council agreed to take the money out of Council Initiatives, a sort of slush fund, to pay for it.
