There wasn’t a record attendance at the Quesnel Rodeo this year, but all things considering the organizers are quite happy.
Ray Jasper is the President of the Rodeo Club.
“Attendance was not quite as good as last year. It looks like paid attendance was around the 4,500 mark. With the fires and all the smoke and everything we had to deal with, I think the club overall is pretty thrilled with how it turned out.”
Jasper says they had about 55 hundred people attend the three days once the promo tickets and sponsor tickets are added in.
He says the barn dance was a huge success as well.
“The barn dance was sold out and everybody that bought a ticket I am sure showed up because they did very good at the barn dance. The Quesnel Kangaroos need to be commended because, for their first time this is a very bid undertaking, I would like to thank some of the folks from the Quesnel Old Timers that stepped in and helped them as well.”
Jasper says the RCMP also did a fantastic job all weekend long.
He says they did well in the sponsorship department leading up to the event as well.
Asked when they will start working on next year, Jasper simply replied “yesterday.”
