The countdown is on to the 56th annual Quesnel Rodeo.
The opening performance is set for tomorrow (Friday) night but prior to that there will a barrel racing qualifier tonight. (Thursday)
Ray Jasper is the President of the Quesnel Rodeo Club.
“We have 110 entries in the qualifier. We have 7 entries in the American qualifier. We’re going to take the top 40 times from tonight and move them onto the main rodeo. Two out of the 7 entries for the American qualifier will qualify to go to Vegas in January.”
The Quesnel Gold City Classic Rodeo during Billy Barker Days is now an American qualifier for the richest one day rodeo south of the border.
The semi-finals will be held in Las Vegas and then the final will be in Arlington, Texas.
Jasper says tonight’s qualifier is free to attend and the lower concession will be open.
