Quesnel firefighters respond to fire at the landfill

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a small fire at the landfill this (Friday) afternoon.

FIre Chief Ron Richert says the call came in just after 1.

“They had a fire that was out in the area of the dump.  Upon arrival there was some light smoke showing, so they just worked with the Public Works crew out there to dig it up and put some water on it.”

Richert says the fire was basically contained to a pile of garbage.

He says they were on scene for about a 1/2 hour, 45 minutes.

This was the first call for the fire department since they moved back into their now renovated downtown fire hall.
