100 Mile House Fire Rescue attended a wildland fire, suspected to be human caused.
The fire occurred on July 2nd near the Marmot Ridge Golf Course, where crews were quickly notified of the incident.
“Upon arrival, we did have a grassfire that was visible to traffic as well, so we had a couple of 9-1-1 calls to it.” says Roger Hollander, Fire Chief.
“Fortunately we were already at the hall on our way to a volunteer event, so we were able to respond quickly and our brush truck apparatus was able to suppress the fire very quickly.”
Hollander says that the fire was caused by a campfire, and notified police of a person of interest that was in the area.
He notes that that the fire was not permitted, as all fires in the District of 100 Mile House require a permit.
A command vehicle, along with a brush truck, and an engine were all on scene attending the fire.
On top of that, starting Friday at noon, there will be a campfire ban across the Cariboo Fire Centre region.
