The issue of where Quesnel’s Gold Pan should be has finally been put to rest-for now

Quesnel residents can stop fighting over where the Gold Pan should be, at least for the next few years.

Mayor Ron Paull read the following motion at last (Tuesday) night’s meeting.

“That Council does not condone moving the Gold Pan from the CN Rail Train Station (Highway 97 across from the Museum) for the duration of this Council term.”

The next slection isn’t until October of 2026.

The motion, brought forward on Tuesday night actually came out of a special closed meeting back on May 2nd.

There was absolutely zero discussion at last night’s public meeting.

The location of the Gold Pan has long been a contentious issue.

It was moved from the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 26 north of town back in July of 2020.

Councillor Ron Paull at the time, was the only one on Council opposed to the relocation.
