There was a large funding announcement at Correlieu Secondary School in Quesnel this (Dec 7) afternoon.
BC Education Minister Mike Bernier announced an expanded 4.9 million dollar Shoulder Tapper program.
The province is picking up 1.3 million dollars of the tab while the Northern Development Initiative Trust is paying 3.6 million.
Bernier says the School District and Correlieu are also partners in the program.
He says Shoulder Tappers, which are career coordinators, will connect young people in the north with training opportunities they may not have considered and set them on a path that can change their lives.
The program has now been expanded to 15 schools districts in the north, including Quesnel and the Cariboo Chilcotin School District.
