Fire Department Responds To Structure Fire at Quesnel River Pulp

Quesnel Fire Department was on the scene of a fire in the 1000 block of Finning Road over the long weekend.

“At approximately 12:30 pm Easter Monday, Quesnel Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Quesnel River Pulp.” Fire Chief Ron Ritchert said, “Upon arrival, they had a fire on the roof and the interior of the building. Firefighters worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire.”

Ritchert noted that they had 18 firefighters and 5 pieces of apparatus on the scene and that there were no injuries.

“RCMP and BC Ambulance also responded for support and Quesnel Fire Department was on scene for approximately 3 hours.”

Ritchert added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
