More Exposure For Microbreweries

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes, also the Minister responsible for the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, made an announcement Friday at the Barkerville Brewing Company in Quesnel.

Oakes announced the BC Liquor Stores have been given the green light to work with their local microbreweries to expand local offerings on their shelves.

She calls it a win-win for small business, microbreweries and the public.equipment

Justine Whittingham, the General Manager at Barkerville Brewing, says it will enable them to get their foot in the door potentially at a lot of liquor stores throughout the north.

She says it is her understanding that it’s the six closest microbreweries within the region.

Whittingham says that means they can go as far south as 100 Mile House and because there are only three in the north it potentially opens up all of northern BC to their product.
