The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to reports of a campfire on the edge of the River Valley just behind Surplus Herby’s on Mackenzie Avenue South.
Captain Evan Dean said they got the call at approximately 7 this (Friday) morning and that crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly before it spread into the wildland.
“Given the dry conditions of the past several weeks, we were relieved to have it knocked down so quickly,” Dean said.
12 firefighters and 3 apparatus responded and there were no injuries reported.
