Williams Lake Fire Department Had An Early Start To Their Day

Williams Lake Fire Department was quick to respond to a fire on Oliver Street earlier this morning.

“At 8:12 am we got a call in regards to an item fire that was near 271 Oliver Street.” Assistant Fire Chief Joan Flaspohler said. “It ended up being a fire that was in between two of the block buildings. It had a couple meter flames and there was some byproduct inside that was on fire. Thank goodness a neighbor when they got up in the morning had noticed it right away and gave us a call.”

Flaspohler said they responded with Ladder 11, made sure they had it extinguished and then assisted the building owners on venting out one of the buildings that had a little bit of smoke in it.

‘It’s always good when we have someone with eyes open and notices these things earlier than later. If this was something that started, maybe in the middle of the night when no one would have spotted it, it could have been a totally different situation.”
