A commitment to remembrance was honoured at last night’s meeting of the 100 Mile House District Council.
Council resolved to close off a portion of Birch Avenue for yearly Remembrance Day observances in perpetuity.
Mayor Mitch Campsall explains why it was the right call:
“Instead of them always having to ask for the streets to be closed – it’s just something that should be done in our community. I think that all of council is on board with this. They shouldn’t have to ask every year when we can just make it a yearly event.”
Birch Avenue will be closed from First to Fourth Street between 10 a-m and noon every November 11th moving forward.
