Even the cloudy skies couldn’t dampen the spirit of today’s ground breaking ceremony for Williams Lake’s newest daycare.
In addition to longer hours, 5am to midnight, seven days a week, Executive Director of the Women’s Contact Society Irene Willsie pointed out some of the other advantages this new facility will offer.
We will be able to provide care for children zero through 12 years of age. Next door is the bus loop so that children can come to the centre after school and our staff will pick them up off the bus.
With more child care space available Willsie says that staffing is going to be a challenge because part of the crisis of child care in williams lake and across the country is the lack of fully trained people.
Dignitaries that were also on hand included Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb, Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, School District 27 Superintendent Mark Thiessen and Councillor Craig Smith.
The new daycare is expected to open in February or March 2016.
