The construction of a 72 care bed facility in Williams Lake will soon be complete.
“We’re not going to say a specific date yet just because things happen,” says Lindsay Page, HR Advisor at Vantage Living.
“Construction really is the main delay, but we are hoping that everything is going to go smoothly for around April 1st.”
Page says they will bring residents in a few at a time so it is comfortable for them and staff is not overwhelmed.
She says they have had a great response from the community throughout the hiring process that remains ongoing, and that they have filled most of their hospitality positions.
“It’s great because our head office is in Kelowna so it’s not too far of a drive to Williams Lake,” Page says.
“A lot of our staff is probably there right now getting all the last minute things done that we need to be done for the site, and then we have our main management staff for Cariboo Place on site already doing a lot of the training. We did bring a lot of the staff down to Salmon Arm to our Mount Ida Mews location to do training there which is another site that we just opened up so that they get some kind of hands-on training in our actual sites to see how Vantage Living does things.”
Construction of Cariboo Place that is located at 185 4th Avenue North was launched in October 2017.
Page says Vantage Living in collaboration with Interior Health will host a ribbon cutting and community celebration at a date yet to be determined.
