Tuesday Snowfall Beats 1975 Record in Williams Lake

Tuesday’s snowfall set a record in Williams Lake.

“That record is compared to that calendar day over the past several years,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Carmen Hartt.

“So yesterday the official total was 13 centimeters in Williams Lake and that beat the previous record which was only 6.4 centimeters in 1975 on February 19th.”

Hartt says she does not have any confirmation for any other locations besides Williams Lake for a record breaker.

She says an upper front that moved through yesterday brought quite a bit of snow to parts of northern B.C.

“We have a little bit of snow today, but it’s expected to clear off and then it looks like maybe another snow event on Friday.”

The greatest one-day snowfall total ever in Williams Lake was 42.7 centimeters on Jan. 7, 1962.
