UPDATE: CHARGES NOW LAID IN CONNECTION WITH ROAD ALTERCATION IN SOUTH CARIBOO

Charges have now been laid in connection with an incident on Grosset road near Bridge Lake.

35-year old Richard Mowat is facing one count each of Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Dangerous Driving, and two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm.

Mowat is due back in court a week from today on the 13th.

100 Mile House RCMP say there was an altercation over animals on Sunday and that one of the men left the scene but then returned with a vehicle.

He is then accused of driving into the other party’s horse and buggy, throwing the driver, horse and buggy into the ditch.

RCMP say another altercation ensued between the two and that the first man then said he would return with firearms.

Police say the suspect was arrested on the road in his vehicle, and that a search of his residence revealed a number of firearms that were then seized.

ORIGINAL STORY:

100 Mile RCMP responded to an assault on Grosset road near Bridge Lake on June 3rd.

An arguement over animals led to one of the people involved leaving and returning with a vehicle. He then drove into the other partys horse and buggy, which he was driving along the road, throwing the driver, horse and buggy into the ditch.

After another altercation, the first person said he would return with firearms. RCMP caught up with the 35 year old man on the road and arrested him. On searching his residence, police found a number of firearms.

Several charges are being recommended including dangerous driving, possessing firearms while prohibited, assault with a weapon, and breach of probation. He appeared in 100 Mile House court on June 5th. The investigation is continuing.
