Helen Henderson will be the new Chief of the Canim Lake Band after an election was held March 31st.
Four candidates put their names forward including outgoing chief Michael Archie.
Henderson, the bands self government coordinator, hopes to move the community toward self governance, which has been a goal for several years.
Henderson is the second woman to be chief of the Canim Lake Band, and will take over May 2.
