The automated weather observing system at the South Cariboo Regional Airport may soon be upgraded thanks to a grant from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
The funding request was supported by the Cariboo Regional District. $16, 500 has been requested to replace the automated system which is used by pilots to determine current conditions at the airport.
The system is outdated and difficult to get parts for, and is not compatible with newer aircraft equipment. The grant request still needs to be approved by the NDIT.
