The colors of the rainbow are proudly flying outside of the Central Cariboo Arts Centre in Williams Lake.
Administrator Brandon Hoffman says he couldn’t help but notice that a few of the other smaller communities around Northern BC seemed to be schooling us on LGBTQ friendliness.
He says he thought that if there’s anywhere in Williams Lake that should be friendly to all people, it’s got to be the arts centre, and that he had put the idea forward to their executive director, Leah Selk.
“We just had this flag pole just sitting out in the front of our building just empty for ages as long as I’ve worked there, so almost 3 years, and thought this would be a very easy and small token to remind our buds that we’re rooting for you, we’re here for you, and we want to make this community as friendly and welcoming to everybody as much as possible.”
Hoffman says the Pride Flag will remain there indefinitely.
It had been put up by City staff with a bucket truck last week.
