Much a do about deer

Williams Lake City Council was asked to help with problem deer in a neighbourhood just north of the hospital.

A number of people in the Boitanio Street-Haddock Ave. area signed a letter to city hall asking for some kind of help in controling the animals over fears for pets and small children playing in the area.

The letter asked the city to come up with a solution and after being considered by staff, which came up with three possible plans, it was resolved to begin with an education program as explained by City Administrator Milo McDonald…”we’re just going to be looking to engage in an education campaign to kind of advise people of what sorts of plants not to plant in their yards to kind of mitigate the problem and then we are going to be looking for some funding partnerships to cost share what ever eventual solution we end up undertaking”

People who signed the letter noted trying to maintain a garden in the area is almost impossible because the deer eat everything.
