Today marks the start of The Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer, Tour De Coast in Vancouver.
The race is done by police and other emergency services personnel and takes place over the course of the next 9 days spanning 800km.
Jamie MacPherson, a firefighter with 100 Mile House Fire Rescue will be riding this year and she says she is currently the top fundraiser in her Tour.
“Each Rider has to raise at least $6,000 for Tour De Coast, you don’t necessarily have to stop there. Currently I’m the top fundraiser for my tour with $18,000 raised.”
MacPherson says she wouldn’t have been able to raise these funds without the support of 100 Mile House.
“Thank you to everyone for your support, it has been overwhelming, I didn’t know that everyone would support me as much as they did and it’s been fantastic and it’s really going to make a difference for the kids.”
All funds raised during the Tour De Coast goes to pediatric Cancer research as well as support programs and services for children and families living with cancer.
