be careful this weekend with fire in the cariboo

Hot dry weather is the forescast throughout the Province this weekend and the BC Wildfire Service is preparing for increased wildfire activity.

Looking at the current conditions for the Cariboo here is Fire Information Officer Natasha Broznitsky.

“ Fire danger ratings in the Cariboo are currently moderate to high. Due to this and to the fact that grass and brush in many areas are starting to cure or go brown, there is the potential for fires to start and spread easily this weekend”.

Broznitsky says late in the weekend, parts of the Cariboo, particularly the west, may receive dry lightning in addition to gusty wind conditions.

Currently the Cariboo Fire Centre is allowing campfires and Category 2 fires.
