The 100 Mile House RCMP are warning the public of another “Revenue Canada” Fraud happening in the Area.
Police are saying that consumers and businesses are receiving notifications by phone or email stating they owe “back taxes” as the result of an audit.
That is followed by the recipient being told they can avoid a fine if they make a payment promptly with some recipients being told they will be deported if that payment is not made right away.
The RCMP is reminding the public who receive these calls NOT to provide any personal information over the phone.
Further information can be found at the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centers website.
