New wildfire keeping cariboo fire centre crews busy

The Cariboo Fire Centre continues to do battle with a wildfire that started yesterday afternoon near Palmer Mountain in the Chilcotin.

Fire Information Officer Emily Epp gives us an update.

“BC Wildfire service crews are responding to a wildfire about 7 kilometres north of Puntzi Lake. The estimated size as of this morning is 182 hectares and we haven’t seen significant growth since yesterday on the fire”.

Epp says four fire fighters and four pieces of heavy equipment stayed working on the fire overnight and made some good progress and got doser guard built around the perimeter of the fire.

There is no threat to life or property at this time with the Palmer Mountain wildfire as crews are making good progress

The cause of the fire is under investigation and they have a couple of fire investigators out there trying determine what started it.
