An arrest has been made after shots were fired at a home in Williams Lake early this morning.
RCMP were called to the 900 block of Western Avenue just after 4 o’clock.
Further investigation revealed that an unknown subject had fired several shots at a residence.
Police say they believe this was a targeted incident as the residence was recently occupied by an individual who claimed to be a local gang member.
However that person has since moved on and RCMP say the residence is currently occupied by a family with no criminal connections.
Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.
Police say shortly after they arrived on scene another shot was heard from an unknown direction.
As a result they took the extra precaution of notifying the School District, University and area residents and recommended that everyone stay away from the area.
Police say they have since seized a firearm and now have one person in custody in connection with this incident.
UPDATE April 26: RCMP say they have recommended charges to crown counsel following yesterday’s incident in which one suspect was taken into custody.
Inspector Milo MacDonald says police have recommended the main charges of mischief of endangering life and unlawful possession of a firearm.
