BC political parties raise millions in 2015

Elections BC has released it’s annual disclosure of campaign financing.

The BC Liberal party raised $9.9 million last year, with $5.2 million coming from from corporations making donations larger than $250. $729,000 worth of contributions were also made by other commercial organizations.

The average Liberal donation was $703.45.

Meanwhile, the BC NDP raised a little over $3 million last year. Most of that came from individuals ($2.49M) and trade unions ($376k). Notably, 35% of all of the BC NDP donations came in the form of contributions from individuals less than $250.

The size of the average NDP donation was just over $90.

The British Columbia Conservative Party raised just $52,739 in 2015.
