UPDATE: Over 9000 People in 100 Mile House Lost Power in Wind Storm

[Update] There are only four locations, approximately 13 customers, that are still without power. BC Hydro does not have an Estimated Time of Restoration for these customers yet.

BC Hydro is still working to restore power to homes in the District of 100 Mile House.

The power agency says a massive district-wide power outage occurred due to the high winds experienced last night [April 10], which knocked trees onto the power lines.

BC Hydro says a hydro pole was also broken during the storm.

Gusts of wind hit up to 69 km per hour in the evening, and didn’t calm down until the morning.

The power company has restored power in 18 locations, and to roughly 9000 customers, the power was restored around 10:30 pm last night.

There are still eight locations with approximately 50 customers without power.

BC Hydro says all available crews and contractors were called in to help with power restoration, and crews are currently still working.
