The Quesnel Team Ropers Club’s final event of the season reigns in this weekend.
Steve Lloyd, Vice–President of the Club, says it is one of the club’s “bigger events of the year”. The Club is expecting close to 125 teams in each of the event’s two categories.
“We got people from Kamloops, Cache Creek, a few people from the coast, and a few guys coming down from Fort St. John and Prince George for this weekend, to name just a few places,” Lloyd says. “People from all over the province who will come down or up to support the Club.”
The two categories for this Roping event are 8.5 and 11.5 classifications. Each category has its list of prizes, including a buckle for first place in the 8.5, and a rifle for first in the 11.5.
Other prizes include a set of JD Knives, spurs, and blankets.
There is also a prize for the most improved Header and Heeler of the series.
While this is the last event in Quesnel, Lloyd says there will be more events throughout the summer across the province. Noting Kamloops as a particular hotspot for competitions.
