The Cariboo Region received more than normal amounts of precipitation for the month of March.
Derek Lee Meteorologist for Environment Canada shared just how wet it was.
“Quesnel received a total of 37.7 millimetres of precipitation and the normal would have been 27.1, so we got around 140 percent of of average which makes it wetter than normal. For Williams Lake there was a total of 55.3 millimetres and the normal would have been 20. That translated to around 277 percent of normal and actually ranked as the second wettest March on the record.”
When it came to March temperatures, Lee said they ranked as being normal for that time of year.
“In Quesnel and Williams Lake the temperatures didn’t differ much between 1 above or below average.”
Heading towards the weekend, the First Week of April temperature-wise is on the rise.
“Now into the weekend the Cariboo will be seeing a lot more sunshine. The high we’re expecting for Williams Lake and Quesnel should be the highest on Saturday with a forecast of 15 degrees for the daytime and 3 degrees for the overnight,” Lee said. “We won’t be reaching any temperature records for this weekend and this time of year. In order to break a record for Saturday it would have to get up to 20 degrees for Williams Lake and 25 for Quesnel.”
Lee noted that after late Sunday there may be a return of precipitation and thunderstorms
