Search and Rescue Teams throughout the Cariboo want to remind you just because the calendar says it’s Spring doesn’t mean that winter is completely over.
Central Cariboo Search and Rescue Member and Public Relations Deborah Bortolussi said here in the Cariboo we get a false Spring quite often, warm weather one day then snow the next.
“It’s also extremely common for it to feel very warm and to appear that the roads are dry and in good condition but as soon as you get into a shadowy area you’ve got ice. So we’re just reminding motorists that road conditions can be unpredictable and changing weather conditions are very common especially in the Spring.”
Bortolussi noted with it being Spring Break motorists should also be aware that more people are on the roads travelling and to be prepared for the traffic to be busier than normal.
“Another thing I’d like to remind everyone, driving while distracted, impaired, or fatigued, is never acceptable and ensuring as we get warmer weather and we’re getting out and about again, to make sure that you’re taking the precautions and planning ahead.”
