Williams Lake Food Bank Has 2 To 3 Weeks Of Supplies Left

The Williams Lake Salvation Army Food Bank is starting to run low on several staples.

Community Ministries Director Tamara Robinson said they are noticing that their shelves are emptying a lot quicker than they had anticipated.

“We’re seeing a ten percent increase for our service compared to the last quarter in 2024. That’s a ten percent increase of people coming to us for help.”

Robinson said they get a wonderful response from the community every Christmas Season and generally in previous years those donations received would carry them through to the end of April sometimes mid May.

“However we are completely out, we have been out of food from Christmas time early February. We are still receiving very generous donations from our local retailers that we’re incredibly grateful for and that is generally perishable items that we pick up daily.”

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Food Bank they can drop off food if they purchase in store in one of the Williams Lake Salvation Army donation bins, at the thrift store, or at Family Services.

“Right now we’re in most need of Kraft Dinner, diced tomatoes, peanut butter, stove top stuffing, hamburger helper, canned pasta’s, as well as canned beans and cereal,” Robinson said.
