BC Wildfires Services is conducting a series of prescribed burns in the Xeni Gwet’in and Tsi Del Del areas, starting tomorrow, March 12th.
Wildfire Services are supporting the Xeni Gwet’in First Nations in burning approximately four hectares at the Rodeo Grounds within the Declared Title Area, until March 17.
Approximately 50 hectares will be burned in Tsi Del Del, west of Williams Lake along the north and south sides of Highway 20. BC Wildfire will be working in collaboration with local First Nations to conduct the burns until April 4.
Wildfire Services says smoke and flames will be visible to residents and the surrounding areas in both Xeni Gwet’in and Tsi Del Del.
They say the burning will be conducted periodically and dependent on weather, site, and venting conditions for smoke dissipation.
Wildfire Services says firefighters will be on-site monitoring the fire activities and providing safety guidance.
