A man has been charged in connection with the death of 52-year-old The-Thanh Nguyen.
On the morning of December 26th, 2021, the Clinton RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive man located at a residence in the 2600 block of Komoru Road in 70 Mile House.
Police say when they arrived, they found Nguyen lying at the threshold of an outbuilding at the Komori Road property.
Officers and attending BC EHS Paramedics attempted life saving measures, but they were unsuccessful and Nguyen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to police, a suspect was arrested fleeing south through Clinton shortly after.
The Southeast District Major Crime Unit was engaged and assumed conduct of the investigation.
On December 27th, 2021, the arrested male was released from police custody without charge.
At the conclusion of the investigation, a charge of second degree murder was approved by the BC prosecution Service, and on Friday (March 7th), 64-year-old Chinh Duc Vu of Vancouver was arrested without incident for the homicide of The-Thanh Nguyen.
“The securing of charge approval was the culmination of the tireless efforts involving investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, E-Division Headquarters and the Burnaby RCMP,” said Staff Sergeant Jason Smart of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
Vu is being held in custody until his first court appearance, which is scheduled for April 3rd in Kamloops.
