Two New Level 2 Charging Stations Now Operating In 100 Mile House

Two new EV Charging Stations are now operational in 100 Mile House.

Located at the Cariboo Mall these Level 2 charging stations are already being used by EV drivers.

Mayor Maureen Pinkney said there are already two over at the Information Centre which are heavily used so it’s nice to see that these new ones will allow even more tourists to stop, charge up, and spend more time in our community.

“At our Tourist Information Centre when they stop there and plug in they can walk across the street and go to many shops and restaurants right on our Frontage Roads. They can also rent electric bikes and cruise through our town, go down to our park and see a little bit more of the community then maybe they can by walking. These ones at the Cariboo Mall gives them direct access to our grocery stores, drugs store, coffee shops, it will really help elevate shopping in town where they may have driven through and not be aware of what they’re missing.”

The District of 100 Mile House said nearby attractions and services will see the benefit of these additional visitors to their shops.

“As more people choose Evs, access to charging infrastructure is critical for them in deciding to stop in 100 Mile House,” the District noted.

Funding the Charging Station Project was provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Northern Development Initiative Trust and the Province of BC, with support from Northern BC Tourism Association, BC Hydro and the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The District of 100 Mile House contributed $5,000 per charging station recognizing them as an important economic development initiative designed to attract visitors.

The District worked with the Community Energy Association and the Cariboo Mall in partnership to secure this location and get the chargers installed.
